Dublin Airport Authority is a commercial semi-state airport company in Ireland. The company owns and operates Dublin Airport and Cork Airport.
Dublin Airport Authority operated a classroom induction course for all of its employees but found some challenges when delivering this. Staff still arrived on-site with a lack of understanding of the culture of the organisation, the training was very time consuming and expensive, some staff did not turn up to the training and directors were not given the opportunity of welcoming new staff.
The outcome of moving the classroom based induction course to an online platform was that it allowed for significant savings on cost & time. The training delivered a consistent message to all staff. Candidates could also access the training at any time via their mobiles, tablets or pcs. The DAA also enjoyed measurement of the outcome of the induction course by way of an assessment. It also allowed the company to get information to a high volume of staff, quickly and effectively and gave them the ability to refresh staff regularly at a minimal cost.
Olive Media proposed to create an online induction course for the DAA which would eliminate the problems associated with their traditional classroom training. This would allow staff to take the course at any time, anywhere, and enjoy learning at their own pace. It also gave directors the opportunity to welcome new staff on board by way of a virtual dialogue.
